About us
Sure Start Speke as an organisation is committed to enhancing life chances for children and families; we were set up in August 2000 following a Government spending review and over a period of time we have developed a number of community led services.
Our company Sure Start Speke Ltd was set up in June 2001 as the vehicle with which our local programme could achieve longer term sustainability and local accountability within its community of operation.
Over our period of operation we have managed a substantial revenue and capital fund totaling almost £6m, which to date has been managed through an accountable body arrangement with South Liverpool Regeneration Ltd a wholly owned subsidiary of South Liverpool Housing Ltd, a local social landlord.
This fund was made up of grants from DFES, DWP, European Regional Development Fund, European Structural Fund, Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative and various other grant making bodies inclusive of the local authority.
